Title of Symposium:
I. Progress in 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing
3D printing (Additive Manufacturing) technologies provide a versatile platform for the on-demand manufacturing of customized products with complex and even hierarchical structures. In the past decade, it has been witnessed considerable advancement in both practical applications and fundamental researches, ranging from architecture, medicine, electronics and energy storage/conversion devices. Combing 3D printing technology with advanced functional materials, further promotes the functionalities of materials and reveals the unique advantages of this technology. The prominent examples are the emergence of 4D printing, and the fabrication of complex structures at multiple length scale, from nanometers to centimeters, offering more degree of freedoms to control and adjust the physical performance of the structure. This symposium is dedicated to the latest advances in novel 3D printing. Due to the breadth of the materials, processes and the applications of 3D printing, we aim to strengthen the connection between chemistry, physics, material science, biology, rheology and mechanics, in order to accelerate the development of this technology.

Focused topics:
I01 Micro- and nano-scale 3D printing
I02 3D printing: rheology and mechanical properties
I03 3D printing: physics, mass transport, heat transfer.
I04 3D printing: microstructure, processing
