Topic: Ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) are a rapidly evolving and growing technical field, which show superior mechanical and physical properties, including strong, tough, light weight, and the ability to withstand severe environments. This symposium will provide a broader forum for scientists and engineers around the world to present recent advances and developments, address key issues, discuss challenges and opportunities in areas of design, processing, characterization, and applications of CMCs. C/SiC, SiC/SiC, C/UHTCs, and hybrid type CMCs are areas to be included in this symposium. The topics of this symposium will include but not limit to:

Fabrication and Processing
G01 Mechanical and Thermal Properties
G02 Corrosion, Oxidation, Ablation and Irradiation Behaviors
G03 Interface/interphase engineering
G04 Coatings for CMCs
G05 Characterization, Analysis, and Simulation
